Wednesday

fifty-two

one hundred and eighty // the reach ... he so wants to be moving

nine hundred and sixty-six // santa ... not so sure (at the playgroup christmas party)

Tuesday

fifty-two

nine hundred and fifty-nine // first time helping to set up the christmas tree ...
there are a large number of baubles clustered between the bottom of the tree and as-high-as-a-two-year-old-can-reach.

one hundred and sixty-five // texture fiend ... i remember m. going through a phase like this.
he's been flinging himself out of my arms in his rush to scratch at the couch fabric.

Saturday

fifty-two

one hundred and fifty-four // my baby bird ...
he's on solids full time now (despite my wanting to wait till six months) and a much happier little person for it.

nine hundred and fifty-one // pigtails (and) wheeeee. the end.

Friday

fifty-two

nine hundred and twenty-eight // coming out the other side ...
we started well, had an extremely rough patch on day three and four and now
(after about two and a half weeks)
i feel like i'm not intensely focused on every little hop, jiggle and twitch that she makes.
(this ebook was extremely helpful, the free forum however, was not).

one hundred and forty-six // in the interest of accurate reporting ...
i feel it's only fair to say that he does this a fairly large proportion of the time that he is awake ...
lucky he's such a good sleeper or he'd have been given away free to a good home by now.

Wednesday

fifty-two

one hundred and thirty-seven // solids ...
he started watching my lunch with serious intensity as it made its way from plate to mouth. i just couldn't resist.
not sure what he makes of baby rice, but his expression is priceless!

nine hundred and thirty // this was the first time she'd ever asked to wear a particular piece of clothing
(her flower girl dress from a friends wedding). i had to force the coat on her though, the apparent temperature was 2.8°C.

Sunday

fifty-two

nine hundred and eighteen // first ponytail...
it stayed in for half the day which is fairly amazing as she usually won't tolerate anything in her hair.

one hundred and thirty-four // the ever expanding friction bald patch

Saturday

fifty-two

apparently moving is tiring for everyone ... except toddlers

one hundred and twenty-two // nine hundred and ten

Friday

fifty-two

nine hundred and seven // one hundred and ten

feet... he's just discovering he has them and she's putting shoes on them by herself
(i know they're elastic-sided, slip on boots, but i'm excited about the though process... she wants to go outside, so she selects boots from her collection and puts them on, she got them on the right feet too).

fifty-two

eight hundred and ninety-eight // her first gig... hairy maclary and friends

one hundred and nine // his arm waving is so much more purposeful now... it's amusing to watch the attempts to guide and then stuff the captured object into his mouth

fifty-two

eight hundred and eighty-eight // we don't let her have dessert unless she finishes most of her dinner... i think she thinks we don't notice some nights that daddy eats more than his fair share.

ninety-six // i love it when he's so relaxed he can't help falling asleep. i love the way his little legs flap bonelessly against my belly as i carry him to bed to tuck him in.

fifty-two

ninety-two // he learned to roll over this week.

eight hundred and eighty-three // i used to stress about how fussy m. was. now she seems to eat pretty much anything
(except mashed potato... as long as it's served in picnic format).

fifty-two

eighty-three // eight hundred and seventy-three
i don't know what the secret is, but when they both sleep till 8:45am it's magic... after i finish panicking that something is terribly wrong that is

Tuesday

fifty-two

m. is often found with a stolen iphone, swiping through the images and video of herself and her brother that are collected there. it prompted me to have a flick through myself and ever since i've been thinking a lot about ways to record the little things they say and do that seem so important, yet fade from memory without cataloguing. i'm pretty certain that while i could easily commit to the idea of a photo a day project, chances are the follow through would be sadly lacking.
i discovered the idea of a weekly photo project on one of those meandering internet adventures where you follow a trail of links like breadcrumbs in a forest and end up somewhere magical. maybe emily from the beetle shack did the same, or maybe she already knew jodi from che and fidel. either way i'd like to thank a couple of ladies i've never met for supplying the inspiration for this project to document our babes.

eight hundred and sixty-nine // it's hard to find an image of her in focus. she's always on the go these days

seventy-nine // the two of them have a bit of a mutual appreciation society going at the moment. i'm interested to see how long that lasts once he's more mobile
